Men’s Soccer Falls in Herb Lauffer Consolation Game vs. Hiram

ERIE, Pennsylvania—The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team was defeated by Hiram College, 3-1, Sunday afternoon in the consolation game of the Herb Lauffer Tournament at Penn State-Behrend on Behrend Field.  

The Yellow Jackets (1-2) and the Terriers (1-1-1) each got five shots off in the first half, but Hiram scored the only goal at the 5:23 mark. 

In the second half Hiram added to its lead when BW committed a foul inside the box leading to a penalty kick goal at the 49:14 mark.

The Yellow Jackets cut the Hiram lead in half when junior forward Craig Wallace (Boxford, Mass./Tilton School) scored his first goal of the season at the 68:29 mark. Sophomore midfielder Justin Herrin (Santee, Calif./West Hills) was credited with his second assist of the tournament.

The Terriers put the game out of reach in the 86th minute when Andrew Bradley found the back of the net.

Senior goalkeeper Zach Haynes (Medina) made three saves for BW. Haynes is 1-2 this season.

The Yellow Jackets have their home opener Wednesday, September 9 when they host cross-town rival Case Western Reserve Universtiy on the Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium at 7 p.m.
