BEREA, Ohio—The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team and third-year Head Coach Wayne Schneider are set to compete for an Ohio Athletic Conference title in 2016-17.

Schneider returns seven letterwinners and three of his top five golfers that finished fifth at the OAC Championships in 2015.

"Our team will be very competitive in 2016-17," said Schneider. "We will be led by three very talented seniors and all of our players are working very hard on their game to prepare for our season opener."

Seniors Scott Schroeder (Aurora), Matt Kershner (Independence) and Weston Lucas (Strongsville / Christian Community School) are the top three returners from last years squad. Schroeder led the team in 2015 with an average of 75.70 per round, Kershner had an average of 78.25 per round and Lucas finished the year with a 79.95 average.

In addition, the Yellow Jackets return sophomores Brad Blaine (Brooklyn), Adam Morris (Grafton / Midview), Jack Kyle (Bay Village / Bay) and Hunter Miller (Frankfort / Ad). Last season, Blaine averaged 87.12 strokes per round, Morris had a 95.20 average, Kyle finished with an average of 84.89 and Miller ended the year with an 84 average.

Schneider also welcomes three new players to the team, junior Tommy Glenn (Avon) and freshmen Jimmy Clark (North Olmsted) and Ben Ladaika (Erie, Pa. / Erie Cathedral Prep).

The collegiate golf season is divided into a fall and spring schedule and BW opens its 2016-17 season on Saturday and Sunday, September 3-4 when they travel to Lawrence, Ohio to compete at the Gatorade Collegiate hosted by The College of Wooster at the Zoar Village Golf Course.  The 2017 OAC Championships will be played in late April at the River Greens Club in West Lafayette.
