BW ATHLETICS INFORMATION:   Matt Kershner played four years of men's golf at Baldwin Wallace University from the fall of 2013 through the spring of 2017.  He was a key four-year starter and an All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection who ranks 13th on the all-time Yellow Jacket Stroke Average list.

ACADEMIC MAJOR:    Sport Management

ACADEMIC SUCCESS:   Matt graduated with a better than 3.4 grade point average

ALL-OHIO ATHLETIC CONFERENCE CHOICE:  As a senior in 2016-2017, Matt earned second-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors with a 10th place individual finish at the OAC Championship Tournament.

TEAM BW CAPTAIN:  As a senior, Matt served as one of three team captains (along with fellow seniors Scott Schroeder '17 and Weston Lucas '17).

AMONG ALL-TIME BEST BW STROKE AVERAGES:  Matt graduated with a 79.24 stroke average in 43 tournaments and 81.5 rounds of 18 holes and ranks 13th on the all-time stroke average list at BW.

MATT KERSHNER'S CAREER SYNOPSIS:  Matt played four years of golf and earned four varsity letters. He was a four-year starter who helped BW win its first-ever OAC men's golf title and advance to the 2014 NCAA Division III National Tournament. As a senior, Matt was a both a team captain and an All-OAC selection. Individually, Matt played in 43 career tournaments and 81.5 rounds of 18 holes and averaged 79.24 strokes per round with a career-best round of 72. His 79.24 career stroke average ranks 13th all-time in BW school history.

THROUGH-THE-YEARS:  As a freshman in 2013-2014, Matt played his first season of golf and earned his first varsity letter. He played in 12 total tournaments and 23.5 rounds of 18 holes and averaged 79.66 strokes per round with a career-best round of 75 on four separate occassions. BW won its first-ever Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament title and placed 36th of 41 teams at the NCAA Division III National Tournament. At the 2014 OAC Tournament, Matt placed 18th individually.

As a sophomore in 2014-2015, Matt played his second season of golf and earned his second letter. He played in all 10 tournaments and 19 rounds and was third with 81.42 strokes per round, including a career-low 74 on the second day of the fall The College of Wooster Gatorade Classic and in the final round of the OAC tourney in the spring. BW placed seventh at the 2015 OAC Tournament.

As a junior in 2015-2016, Matt played his third season of golf and earned his third letter.  He competed in 11 tournaments and  20 rounds of 18 holes.  He ranked fourth on the team with a 78.25 stroke average.  He shot a career and season-low 73 at The College of Wooster. Gatorade Classic at the Zoar Village Golf Course in Zoar, Ohio. He placed 30th individually at the 2016 OAC Tournament. BW finished fifth as a team.

As a senior in 2016-2017, Matt played his fourth season of golf and earned his fourth letter. He was the No.2 player on the team.  Matt earned second-team All-OAC honors with a 10th place finish at the OAC Tournament. He played in 10 tournaments and 19 total rounds and averaged a career-best 77.58, including a career-best round of even-par 72 on the first day of the 2017 OAC Tournament at the River Greens Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ohio. BW placed fifth as a team.

High School Information:

  • Matt was a three-time letterwinner in golf
  • He was a two-time All-Chagrin Valley Conference (CVC) selection
