Imani Garners First Career OAC Football Weekly Honor

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University junior defensive end Sekou Imani (Dover) has been selected as the Ohio Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career.

Imani, who was named the Dick Miller Defensive Player of the Game, earns his first career weekly honor after recording five tackles, four quarterback hurries, a blocked field goal, a fumble recovery that he returned 65-yards for a touchdown and a safety in BW's 37-7 victory over Capital University last Saturday on Community and Family Day and Homecoming.  The blocked field goal and safety were the first of his career while it was the third fumble recovery of his career and second career fumble recovery for a touchdown.

This season, Imani has appeared and started in all five games.  He has recorded 17 tackles, including four for a loss of 17 yards.  In addition, Imani has tallied six quarterback hurries, recovered three fumbles, returned two fumbles for touchdowns, sacked the quarterback 1.5 times, forced one fumble, blocked one kick and caused one safety.

For his career, Imani has played in 17 games with 34 tackles, including 13.5 for a loss of 57 yards.  He has tallied 6.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, one blocked kick and one safety.

The Yellow Jackets are idle this week and return to action on Saturday, October 19 when they travel to New Concord for an OAC game against Muskingum University inside McConagha Stadium at 2 p.m.
