Kelly and Sympson Repeat as CoSIDA Football Academic All-Americans

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Baldwin Wallace University football student-athletes Kyle Kelly (Wadsworth/St. Vincent-St. Mary) and Ryan Sympson (North Lima/South Range) have been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Division III Football team for the second straight season.

Kelly, who carries a perfect 4.0 grade point average in pre-physical therapy, was named to the second-team for the second straight season.  He is a three-time Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection, a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta and Chi Sigma Alpha honor societies.  This season, Kelly appeared in nine games this season with nine tackles. For his career, Kelly appeared in 30 games and tallied 89 tackles and six pass breakups. 

Sympson, who carries a 3.87 grade point average in biology, was selected to the second-team after being a first-team selection in 2018. He is a three-time Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection, a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta and Chi Sigma Alpha honor societies. This season, Sympson appeared in nine games this season on a Yellow Jacket offense that averaged 39.14 yards of total offense and 32.3 points per game.  In four seasons, he appeared in 25 games.

Kelly and Sympson become the second and third Yellow Jacket student-athletes to be named as Academic All-Americans this fall and are the 26th and 27th BW student-athletes to be repeat award-winners.  BW now has 120 all-time Academic All-Americans, which is more than any Division III college or university in the OAC or the state of Ohio and ranks 11th nationally in Division III.
