Three Football Student-Athletes Named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

BEREA, Ohio – Three Baldwin Wallace University football student-athletes have been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 7 team.

Senior CoSIDA Academic All-American and Academic All-0hio Athletic Conference defensive back Kyle Kelly (Wadsworth/St. Vincent-St. Mary) and senior CoSIDA Academic All-American and  Academic All-OAC offensive lineman Ryan Sympson (North Lima/South Range) have been selected to the first team for the second straight season while sophomore punter Andrew Cregan (Navarre/Strasburg-Franklin) has been selected to the first-team for the first time in his career.  The trio now advances to the Academic All-America ballot, which will be announced in December.

Kelly, who carries a perfect 4.0 grade point average in pre-physical therapy, is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta and Chi Sigma Alpha honor societies.  This season, Kelly appeared in nine games this season with nine tackles, For his career, Kelly appeared in 30 games and tallied 89 tackles and six pass breakups. 

Sympson, who carries a 3.87 grade point average in biology, is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta and Chi Sigma Alpha honor societies. This season, Sympson appeared in nine games this season on a Yellow Jacket offense that averaged 39.14 yards of total offense and 32.3 points per game.  In four seasons, he appeared in 25 games.

Cregan, who carries a 3.60 grade point average in sport management, appeared in three games before having his season cut short due to injury.  He punted 20 times for 647 yards for an average of 32.4 with seven punts inside the 20 and seven punts fair caught.  Cregan had a long of 49 yards.  

BW finished the 2019 campaign with an overall record of 7-3 and third place finish in the OAC with a mark of 6-3.
