BEXLEY, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team closed out the regular season portion of its scheduled with a three-set Ohio Athletic Conference victory of Capital University in the Capital Center.
BW (26-5, 4-5 OAC), who will enter next week's OAC Tournament as the sixth, defeated Capital (9-20, 1-8 OAC) by scores of 25-12, 25-18, 25-16. The Crusaders ends their season.
The Yellow Jacket offense was led junior two-time first-team All-OAC outside hitter Alicia Lortcher (Norwalk) with a match-high 10 kills. Senior All-OAC right side hitter Ellen Hawkins (Worthington/Thomas Worthington), sophomore outside hitter Allyson Smith (Macedonia/Walsh Jesuit) and freshman middle hitter Taylor Brown (Maple Heights) added nine kills. The nine kills were a career-high for Brown.
Freshmen setters Kathleen Egan (Cleveland/Beaumont) and Abby Cosart (Lima/Bath) ran the offense. Egan tallied a match-best 19 assists while Cosart recorded a career-best 18 assists.
The back line was anchored by freshman defensive specialist/libero Jasmine Hromada (Lorain/Elyria Catholic) as she dug out a match-high 15 digs. Lortcher contributed 11 digs and freshman defensive specialist/libero Sarah Reinhard (Willoughby/South) contributed
BW is back in action on Tuesday, October 31 when it travels to Alliance to face the third-seed University of Mount Union in an OAC Tournament first round match at 7 p.m.
