Women’s Tennis Drops OAC Match to Ohio Northern

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team fell to Ohio Northern University in Ohio Athletic Conference action on a chilly afternoon at the Pop Collins Tennis Courts.

Ohio Northern (14-4, 4-0 OAC) won all the doubles matches to establish a 3-0 lead heading into singles play. At No. 1 doubles, junior All-OAC player Imani Robinson (Cincinnati/School for Creative & Performing Arts) and freshman Jayde Robinson (Cincinnati/School for Creative & Performing Arts) put up the toughest fight. The sisters remained on serve until 3-2 when the Polar Bears ripped off four straight games to take a 7-2 lead with Jayde Robinson serving to stay in the match. The Yellow Jackets (7-7, 1-2 OAC) took the next two games before ultimately falling by a score of 8-4.

Imani and Jayde Robinson carried that competitive spirit into their singles matches. Jayde Robinson kept right with her Polar Bear opponent at No. 1 singles but an injury forced her to retire after dropping the first set 7-5. One court over and on serve, Imani earned a break to take a 4-3 lead, which she turned into a 5-4 lead before her Ohio Northern opponent rattled off three straight games to take the first set and used that first set momentum to win the second set and the match 7-5, 6-1.

BW will have a quick turnaround as the Yellow Jackets will hit the road to take on NCAA Division II Ursuline College at 3:30 p.m. at the Ursuline Tennis Courts.
