LORAIN, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team opened up Ohio Athletic Conference play with an 8-1 win over Marietta College at the Foxcreek Family Tennis Center.

Despite not having played since the team's spring break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina, BW (7-4, 1-0 OAC) showed no rust and took a solid 3-0 lead after doubles play. Junior All-OAC player Imani Robinson (Cincinnati/School for Creative & Performing Arts) and sister freshman Jayde Robinson (Cincinnati/School for Creative & Performing Arts) cruised to an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles. Senior Shannon Finkenthal (Beachwood) and junior Kathleen Moser (Strongsville) were the next duo to earn a point for the Yellow Jackets with an 8-3 victory at No. 3 while freshmen Becca Liebler (Medina) and Ashtyn Morris (Salem) were the last doubles match on the courts as they worked hard for an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles.

The Yellow Jackets kicked up the energy during singles and only surrendered five total games in their five singles victories. Marietta (2-9, 0-1 OAC) picked up its lone point with a win at No. 3 singles. Meanwhile, Jayde Robinson, Finkenthal and senior Academic All-OAC player Kelly Peskura (Strongsville) each won by a final score of 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.

BW will return to Berea on Tuesday, March 27, when the Yellow Jackets host Ohio Wesleyan University in non-conference action at 3:30 p.m. at the Pop Collins Tennis Courts.
