ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team dropped its first Ohio Athletic Conference match to the University of Mount Union by a final score of 5-4 at the Whitehill Tennis Courts.

Mount Union (8-4, 1-1 OAC) took a 2-1 lead after doubles play en route to its first OAC victory of the season, winning No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Senior Shannon Finkenthal (Beachwood) and junior Kathleen Moser (Strongsville) put up a fight at No. 3 doubles but ultimately fell 9-7. Junior All-OAC player Imani Robinson (Cincinnati/School for Creative & Performing Arts) and freshman Jayde Robinson (Cincinnati/School for Creative & Performing Arts) handed Gretchen Groves and Kayla Johnston just their second doubles loss of the season, earning the only doubles point for BW (7-5, 1-1 OAC) with an 8-6 victory.

Freshman Becca Liebler (Medina) needed three sets to defeat her Purple Raider opponent. The freshman dropped her first set but was able to regroup and take a tight second set before rolling over Gabrielle Wegener in the third set for a final score of 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.

BW will host the defending OAC regular season and tournament champion and crosstown rival John Carroll University on Wednesday, April 4, at 3:30 p.m. at the Pop Collins Tennis Courts.
