Women’s Swimming and Diving Wins Third Straight with Defeat of Penn State Behrend

BEREA, Ohio. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team won its third straight dual meet with a 150-71 triumph of visiting Penn State-Behrend (Pa.) in a non-conference meet in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center. 

BW (4-1) was led by freshman freestyler Allie Thorson (Amherst/ Marion L. Steele) as she earned victories in the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard free events. Thorson won the 200-yard free in a career-best time of 2:01.71 and the 500 free in 5:31.69.

Also picking up individual victories were junior freestyler Lena Kortis (Canton/Massillon Perry), sophomore breaststroker Sarah Krupp (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South), freshman diver/breaststroker Ellie Clymer (Independence), freshman freestyler Olivia Jacob(Canton/ McKinley) and freshman breaststroker Erika Nockengost (Cuyahoga Falls). 

Kortis won the 100-yard free in 58.4 seconds. Krupp won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:25.52. Clymer won the one-meter diving event with a career-best score of 312.10 points. Jacob won the 1650-yard free in 19:02.5. Nockengost won the 100-yard breaststroke inf 1:13.01.

In relay action, both the 200-yard medley and 200-yard free team won. The 200-yard medley team of junior freestyler Nicole Gladish (Fairview Park/ Fairview), ClymerNockengost and Kortis won with a season-best 1:58.88. The 200-yard free quartet of sophomore freestyler Claire Onchuck (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South), freshman freestyler Jenna Ball (Salamanca, N.Y.), Thorson and junior freestyler Jordyn Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) won with a season-best time of 1:46.56.

BW is back in action on Friday, November 18 when it hosts a non-conference dual meet against Hiram College at 6 p.m.  The Yellow Jackets end their four-meet homestand on Saturday, November 19 when they host an OHio Athletic Conference meet against the University of Mount Union at 1 p.m.
