Women's Swimming and Diving Sets School Record on Day Two of OAC Championships

AKRON, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team set one school record and had two All-OAC performers on the second day of competition at the OAC Championships hosted by the University of Mount Union in the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of the University of Akron.

BW is fourth of seven teams with 289.5 points.   John Carroll leads the two-day competition with 581.5 points. 

The Yellow Jackets were led by freshman stroker Erika Nockengost (Cuyahoga Falls) and freshman freestyler Allie Thorson (Amherst/Marion Steele) as each claimed their first All-OAC accolade. Nockengost took third in the 100-yard butterfly in a career-best time of 59.49 seconds. Thorson placed third in the 200-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 1:57.67.

In addition, sophomore All-OAC stroker Sarah Krupp (Williamsville, N.Y. /Williamsville South) placed fourth in the 400-yard individual medley in a season-best time of 4:49.31. Krupp finished third in the event a year ago. Junior Jordyn Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) took seventh in the 200-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 2:01.50. Freshman Olivia Jacob (Canton/McKinley) took ninth in the 200-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 2:00.89.  Freshman diver/stroker Ellie Clymer (Independence) finished fourth in the 1-meter dive and ninth in the 100-yard breaststroke.  Clymer had a career-best 300.40 points in diving and career-best time of 1:10.07 in the 100-breast.  Freshman Alexis Farb (Erie, Pa./McDowell) was eighth in the 1-meter dive with a career-best 207.25 points.

In relay action, the 200-yard medley relay unit of Miller, Clymer, Nockengost and junior freestyler Lena Kortis (Canton/Massillon Jackson) placed fifth in a season-best time of 1:53.44. The 800-yard freestyle relay team of Thorson, Nockengost, Jacob and Miller finished third in a school-record time of 7:55.51.

BW is back in action on Saturday, February 18 for the third and final day of competition of the OAC Championships.  Prelims begin at 10 a.m. and the finals will be contested at 6 p.m.
