AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team has landed atop the 2018-19 Ohio Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.

BW, who was picked third a year ago, topped the 10-team poll with 74 points and four first-place votes. Capital University was picked second with 67 points and one first-place vote. Ohio Northern University was selected third with 59 points while defending OAC Tournament champion Marietta College finished fourth with 54 points and three first-place votes. The University of Mount Union rounded out the top five with 52 points and one first-place vote.

"It's nice for the OAC coaches to think of our program so highly this year but we know we have a ton of work to do to make that happen," veteran head coach Cheri Harrer said. "The OAC is arguably the best league in the country in quality throughout all 10 teams. There are probably seven or eight teams with the talent to win the OAC this year and the others can beat the top teams as well. Whoever ends up on top at the end of the gauntlet of the OAC season will certainly have earned it!"

Harrer, who is in her 29th season in Berea and owns a 564-213 career record, returns 10 letterwinners and four starters from last year's squad that posted a 15-11 overall record and an 11-7 mark in the OAC. The Yellow Jackets advanced to the OAC tournament for the fifth consecutive season before falling in the quarterfinals to Otterbein University.

BW opens up the 2018-19 campaign on the road on Tuesday, Nov. 13, against St. Vincent (Pa.) College. The Yellow Jackets begin OAC play on Wednesday, Nov. 28, when they travel to Heidelberg University.
