BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball Head Coach Cheri Harrer has announced that Amanda Berchtold will join her staff as an assistant coach for the 2018-19 campaign.
Berchtold comes to BW from Mercyhurst Preparatory School in Erie, Pennsylvania, where she served as a varsity assistant coach for one year. Her responsibilities as an assistant coach included scouting, watching film and preparing practice and game plans. Prior to Mercyhurst Preparatory, Berchtold was an assistant coach for the Erie Saints 8th grade AAU travel team for one summer.
Her basketball experience isn't just limited to the sidelines, however, as Berchtold was a member of the NCAA Division II Gannon University basketball team from 2012-2016. During that span, Gannon made three straight NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Regional Championship and Elite Eight run in 2013 followed by a Sweet Sixteen berth in 2014. Off the court, Berchtold was a Gannon summer basketball camp counselor, a recipient of the Rand Garrity Sportsmanship Award, a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and a summer intern in the athletic department.
Berchtold graduated cum laude from Gannon in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in sport management and marking before obtaining a Master of Science in Education with a concentration in sport administration from the University of Akron in December of 2017.
