BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country team placed third and the men were 10th at the 2009 Calvin College Cross Country Knight Invite today (Saturday, September 19) in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This was the fourth meet of the season for the Yellow Jackets.
The Yellow Jacket women competed in a 5K race and placed third of 14 schools (11-2 record) while the men competed in an 8K race and placed 10th of 13 schools.
For the women, senior 2008 Ohio Athletic Conference individual champion and Runner of the Year D�Arcy Hlavin (Berea) led the way for the Yellow Jackets and placed seventh individually of 193 runners in 18:19.
She was followed by junior All-OAC runner Kim Chinn (Zanesville/ West Muskingum) who placed 10th in 18:22, freshman Sarah Rospert (Milan/ Edison) was 27th in 19:09, junior Katie White (Berea) was 34th in 19:26, junior All-OAC runner Karin Coyne (Columbia Station/ Columbia) was 37th in 19:28, junior Krysten Kovach (North Royalton/ Parma Padua) was 65th in 20:01, freshman Lauren McGaughey (Allison Park, Pa./ Hampton) was 69th in 20:04, frehsman Lynne Fahy (Ontario, N.Y./ Wayne Central) was 108th in 20:39, senior Brittany Giesken (Ottawa/ Glandorf) was 112th in 20:41, freshman Tess Hoogeveen (Westerville/ South) was 120th in 20:49, and sophomore Julie Kotesovec (Litchfield Township/ Medina Buckeye) was 122nd in 20:53 and rounding out the Yellow Jackets was sophomore Judy Patterson (Aliquippa, Pa./ Monaca Center) in 142nd in 21:23.
For the BW men, junior Brian Gibbons (Rocky River) led the way and was 36th individually of 200 total runners in 26:22.
He was followed by freshman Kenneth Janosko (Mentor) 54th in 26:36, sophomore Zach Szablewski (Tiffin/ Calvert) placed 63rd in 26:43, senior Jimmy Eberts (North Canton/ Hoover) finished 77th in 26:57, sophomore Drew Beck (Canadaigua, N.Y./ Canadaigua Academy) was 86th in 27:06, senior Brian Campbell (Berea) was 95th in 27:19, freshman Andrew Ventura (Avon) was 120th in 27:44, junior Nate Nemire (Berlin Heights/ Milan Edison) in 129th in 27:59, sophomore Thomas Wilkens (Powell (Olentangy Liberty) was 138th in 28:06, senior Greg Ackley (Ashtabula/ Lakeside) was 140th in 28:08, freshman Ryan Fallow (Medina/ Senior) was 143rd in 28:15, freshman Nicholas Jeffers (South Amherst/ Firelands) was 150th in 28:30, freshman Teddy Crozier (Dresden/ Tri-Valley) was 156th in 28:43, sophomore Michael Sisko (Olmsted Falls) was 161st in 28:53, sophomore Mark Warman (Strongsville) was 175th in 29:23 and freshman David Gerding (Strongsville) was 176th in 29:26.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Friday October 2 when they travel to compete in the All-Ohio Championship Meet at Ohio Weslyan University in Delaware, Ohio at 2:00 p.m.
