BW Women Win Case Cross Country Meet Title, Men Third

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country team captured the team title at today's (Saturday, September 5, 2009) Bill Sudeck Case Western Reserve University Memorial Meet at the Squire Valley Farms in Hunting Valley, Ohio.  This was the second meet of the fall for the Yellow Jackets.

The women competed in a 5K race and placed first of eight schools and the men ran an 8K distance and placed third of six teams.
 
For the women in the 5K, senior 2008 Ohio Athletic Conference individual champion and Runner of the Year D'Arcy Hlavin (Berea) placed second with a time of 19:43.60. She was followed by junior All-OAC runner Kim Chinn (Zanesville/ West Muskingum) in third in 19:35.69, junior Katie White (Berea) in 11th with a time of 20:24.29, All-OAC junior Karin Coyne (Columbia Station/ Columbia) was 13th in 20:28.26, junior Krysten Kovach (North Royalton/ Parma Padua) in 16th place in 20:39.07, freshman Lauren McGaughey (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) was 19th in 20:59.63, freshman Tess Hoogeveen (Westerville/ South) was 33rd in 22:01.12, and sophomore Julie Kotesovec (Litchfield Township/ Medina Buckeye) was 45th in 22:01.46. In addition, freshman Lynn Fahy (Ontario, New York/ Wayne Central) placed 47th in 22:07.73, senior Brittany Giesken (Ottawa/ Ottawa-Glandorf) finished 62nd in 22:52.34, sophomore Judy Patterson (Aliquippa, Pa./ Monaca Center) was 66th in 23:05.94 and junior Emily Oliver (Waynesburg/ Sandy Valley) placed 77th in a time of 24:53.65.
 
For the BW men, sophomore Zach Szablewski (Tiffin/ Calvert) led the way by placing 15th in 28:05.52,Kenneth  Janosko a freshman (Mentor) finished 21st in 28:21.76, Drew Beck (Canadaigua, N.Y. (Canadaigua Academy) placed 22nd in 28:23.98. He was followed by senior Brian Campbell (Berea) in 26th place in 28:34.44, freshman David Gerding (Strongsville) in 27th in 28:39.88, junior Brian Gibbons (Rocky River) in 28th in 28:43.67, senior Mark Buhoveckey (Brunswick/ Parma Padua) finished 33rd in 29:01.67, sophomore Thomas Wilkin (Powell/ Olentangy Liberty) placed 35h in 29:13.35, freshman Nicholas Jeffers (South Amherst/ Firelands) in 36th with a time of 29:13.56, senior James Eberts (North Canton/Hoover) was 37th in 29:14.52, junior Nate Nemire (Berlin Heights/ Milan Edison) in 39th with 29:17.20, senior Greg Ackley (Ashtabula/ Lakeside) was 42nd in 29:38.87, freshman Ryan Fallow (Medina/ Senior) in 43rd in 29:41.19, sophomore Michael Sisko (Olmsted Falls) was 44th in 29:43.45, freshman Teddy Crozier (Dresden /Tri-Valley) was 45th in 29:49.63, freshman Andrew Ventura (Avon) was 46th in 29:50.13 and sophomore Mark Warman (Strongsville) was 55th in 30:14.18.
 
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action this Saturday, Sept. 12 when they travel to Bowling Green, Ohio to compete at the annual Bowling Green State University Mel Brodt Invitational Meet at 11:00 a.m.
