BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country team placed third of 21 Division III teams and the men were ninth of 20 teams at the 2009 All-Ohio Championship Meet today (Friday, October 2, 2009) at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. This was the fifth meet of the season for the Yellow Jackets.
For the women, senior 2008 Ohio Athletic Conference individual champion and Runner of the Year D'Arcy Hlavin (Berea) led the way and placed 12th individually of 141 DIII runners with a time of 19:55.03.
She was followed by junior All-OAC runner Kim Chinn (Zanesville/ West Muskingum) who placed 14th in 19:58.5, junior Krysten Kovach (North Royalton/ Parma Padua) in 28th at 20:39.6, freshman Sarah Rospert (Milan/ Edison) in 31st at 20:43.4, junior All-OAC runner Karin Coyne (Columbia Station/ Columbia) in 49th at 21:19.2, freshman Lauren McGaughey (Allison Park, Pa./ Hampton) in 63rd at 21:45.1 and freshmanLynne Fahy (Ontario, N.Y./ Wayne Central) in 93rd at 22:24.2. BW's top five tied Wittenberg University for third, but McGaughey's time won the tie-breaker.
For the BW men, junior Brian Gibbons (Rocky River) led the way and was 26th individually of 137 total runners with a time of 28:26.3.
He was followed by sophomore Zach Szablewski (Tiffin/ Calvert) in 38th at 28:39.9, sophomore Drew Beck (Canadaigua, N.Y./ Canadaigua Academy) in 42nd at 28:47.1, senior Jimmy Eberts (North Canton/ Hoover)in 46th at 28:51.6, freshman Kenneth Janosko (Mentor) in 55th at 29:10.8, senior Brian Campbell (Berea) in 63rd at 29:20.3 and freshman Andrew Ventura (Avon) in 88th at 30:14.4.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Saturday, October 17 at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Meet at Oberlin College at 10:30 a.m.
