ALLIANCE, Ohio. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis suffered just its second loss of the season as it dropped its Ohio Athletic Conference opener to the University of Mount Union by a final score of 7-2 on the Whitehill Tennis Courts.
Mount Union (8-3, 1-0 OAC) won two of three doubles matches to gain the early 2-1 lead. BW (9-2, 0-1 OAC) won its lone doubles match as the team of Brian Carano (Akron/Revere) and freshman Jake Elbin (Findlay) won third doubles by a score of 9-8.
The Purple Raiders took five of six singles matches to secure the victory. The Yellow Jackets picked up their lone win as Elbin earned the victory at sixth singles by identical scores of 6-2.
BW is back in action on Monday, March 27 when it hosts its first outdoor match with a non-conference match against Bethany (W. Va.) College on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts at 3:30 p.m. The Yellow Jackets return to OAC action on Saturday, April 1 when it travels to Westerville to take on Otterbein University at 1 p.m.
