Men’s Soccer Holds Muskingum Scoreless in OAC Action

BEREA, Ohio—The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team defeated Muskingum University, 2-0, in an Ohio Athletic Conference game on Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium.

BW (5-10, 2-3 OAC) was led by freshman forward Danny Ruple (Berea/Berea-Midpark) and sophomore forward Ryan Hassell (Southhampton, BERMUDA/Western Academy). Ruple scored a goal and added an assist for a game-high three points and Hassell netted the other Yellow Jacket goal.  

Muskingum (3-11-1, 0-5 OAC) was led by sophomore goalkeeper Gabriel Kral as he made a game-high 12 saves for the Fighting Muskies.

The Yellow Jackets scored both of their goals in the first half. Hassell scored his third goal of the season off a cross from Ruple at the 11:34 mark and Ruple scored his team leading eighth goal of the season off an assist from sophomore forward Kurt Raney (Mentor) at the 21:00 mark.

Freshman goalkeeper Patrick Mehal (Richfield/Revere) made five saves and improved to 3-3 on the year.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, October 19 when they travel to Tiffin to square off against Heidelberg University in an OAC game on the Hidden Valley Soccer Complex at 4 p.m.
