Men’s Soccer Falls Short at Allegheny (Pa.)

MEADVILLE, Pennsylvania—The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team was defeated by Allegheny College, 4-2, in a non-conference game on Frank B. Fuhrer Field.

Sophomore forwards Ryan Hassell (Southampton, Bermuda/Western Reserve Academy) and Logan Davis (Hinckley/Medina Highland) scored the two goals for BW (0-6).

Allegheny (2-2-1) was led by junior forward Bryce Evans as he tallied a game-high three assists.

In the first half, BW was outshot by Allegheny 10-3, but the Yellow Jackets put two of their three shots on net. The Gators netted the only goal of the half when senior midfielder Liam McNamee scored in the 32nd minute. Sophomore defender Liam McKersie and were credited with the assist.

BW scored two unanswered goals to open up the second half and take a 2-1 lead when Hassell scored his first goal of 2016 in the 50th minute and Davis netted his second goal of the year in the 63rd minute.  Allegheny answered the Yellow Jackets run with three consecutive goals to close out the scoring. Evans assisted junior forward Tolossa Hassan in the 68th minute and senior defender Aaron Donahoe in the 75th minute. The Gators final goal of the game was an own goal in the 89th minute.

Senior goalkeeper Ryan Asbury (Cincinnati/Turpin) faced 10 shots and made six saves for the Yellow Jackets.  

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, September 17 when they host Bluffton University in the night cap of women's and men's doubleheader on Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium at 3:30 p.m.
