Men’s Lacrosse Claims Victory Over Capital in OAC Opener

BEXLEY, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse team traveled to Capital University for its Ohio Athletic Conference opener. They claimed their first OAC victory of the season by a final score of 14-9 on Purmort Field inside the Bernlohr Stadium. 

BW (5-3, 1-0 OAC) Leaders

  • Sophomore All-OAC attacker Jake Nanosky (Medina) scored six goals and had one assist. 
  • Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference attacker Kyler Byerly (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) added three goals.
  • Junior midfielder Olin Ferguson (Tulsa, Okla./Booker T. Washington) contributed two goals.
  • Junior All-OAC goalkeeper Joe Storner (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) recorded 10 saves. 

Capital (3-5, 1-0 OAC) Leaders

  • Mason Spaulding scored five goals.
  • Jake Belt added one goal and one assist.
  • Sam McInturf saved 16 shots. 

1st Quarter (BW 4-1)

  • 12:05 Junior All-OAC midfielder Jonas Aquilla (Westlake/St. Edward) kicks off the scoring for BW (1-0).
  • 7:43 Nanosky scores his first goal of the match (2-0).
  • 7:04 Nanosky immediately follows up with a second goal (3-0).
  • 5:27 Spaulding scores the first goal for Capital, assisted by Nathan Montgomery (3-1). 
  • 4:40 Nanosky scores his third goal of the match (4-1). 

2nd Quarter (BW 8-4)

  • 12:51 Spaulding scores his second goal of the game (4-2). 
  • 12:32 Nanosky scores his fourth goal of the match, unassisted (5-2).

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Wednesday, March 30th when they host Heidelberg University in an OAC match at 7:00 p.m. on Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium.
