AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse team has been picked to finish third in the 2018 Ohio Athletic Conference Coaches Preseason Poll.

Picked second a season ago, BW was chosen third of nine teams with 56 points and one first place vote. Defending OAC regular season and tournament champion John Carroll University and Capital University finished tied for first with 58 points and four first place votes apiece. Ohio Northern University was fourth in the poll and Otterbein University finished fifth.

"We are pleased to be considered a contender by our peers in the OAC," first year head coach Trey Keeley said. "We lost a great coach and the conference's first All-American so there is some history we cannot replace or duplicate. However, every team has a lifespan of one year. I know our guys are determined to make their mark in the Yellow Jacket history books. It is my hope that our guys continue to work hard every day with a goal of personal and team oriented improvement as a priority, rather than a result-based focus."

Keeley, who is in his first season in Berea, inherits a roster with 33 letterwinners and eight All-OAC performers from last year's team that finished 12-3 overall and 7-1 in the OAC before falling to Capital in the OAC semifinals.

BW opens the 2018 season with a trip to Washington, Pennsylvania, to play Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College on Wednesday, February 21, at 6 p.m. The Yellow Jackets will play their 2018 home opener on Saturday, March 10, against Alma (Mich.) College at 2 p.m. inside George Finnie Stadium. OAC action opens up with a road trip to New Concord to take on Muskingum University on Saturday, March 24, at 4 p.m.
