Nine Yellow Jackets Score in BW Men’s Lacrosse Victory at Muskingum

NEW CONCORD, Ohio -- Nine Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse team players scored a goal as the Yellow Jackets won an 11-3 Ohio Athletic Conference game against Muskingum University at McConagha Stadium.

BW (12-1, 4-1 OAC) set the school record for both wins in a season and for OAC victories while Muskingum (3-10, 0-5 OAC) lost for the ninth straight time.

The Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore midfielder Shake Rakich (Dublin / Olentangy Liberty) and freshman attack Brock Riemenschneider (Rocky River) each with two goals.

Muskingum was led by Brock Yackey with two goals.

The Yellow Jackets took a 2-0 lead in the opening period on goals by junior midfielder Jake Opincar (Middleburg Heights /Padua Franciscan) and sophomore midfielder Brett Librock (East Amherst, N.Y. /Williamsville East).

In the second period, BW scored two more unanswered goals by Shake Rakich and Vinny Carson (Cleveland/Benedictine) with the last coming at the 8:25 mark.    Muskingum scored its first goal when Yackey scored the unassisted goal at 7:45.   The Yellow Jackets scored the final two goals of the half to take a 6-1 lead on goals by junior midfielder Steve Wozniak (Strongsville / Padua Franciscan) and Shane Rakich with the last coming at 6:23.

BW got the lone goal of the third period when sophomore midfielder Dominic Horvath (Mayfield Heights/Mayfield) found the back of the net off the assist from Carson at the 7:35 mark.

The Yellow Jackets opened the final period scoring when sophomore midfielder Jarrod Gilliam (Lewis Center /Olentangy Orange) found the back of the net off the assist from Carson at 14:06.  BW added to its lead at 9-1 when freshman attack Brock Riemenschneider off the assist from Carson at the 8:02 mark.  The Fighting Muskies responded with goals by Yackey and Zach Kern with the last coming at 7:38.  The Yellow Jackets scored the final two goals of the game from Brock Riemenschneider and sophomore midfielder Alex Fioritto (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) with the last coming at the 3:55 mark.

In goal for the Yellow Jackets, sophomore netminder Mike Dizonno (Buffalo Grove, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) faced 16 total shots, including six on-goal, allowed three goals and made three saves to improve to 12-1 in his career.

BW is back in action on Saturday, April 25 when it hosts its regular season and OAC game against Capital University on Senior & Parents' Day on the Tressel Field inside The George Finnie Stadium at 1 p.m.

The OAC Tournament begins on Wednesday, April 29 with semifinal games at the site of the highest seeded team. The OAC Championship Game is sand NCAA Division III National Tournament berth will be decided on Saturday, May 2 at the highest remaining seed.
