BW Men’s Lacrosse Team Ends Second Season

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse team lost to Otterbein University, 16-10, in an Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal game at Clements Field. Otterbein advances to play in Saturday's OAC Championship Game and BW ends its second season of play.

BW ends its second season of men's lacrosse with a 7-7 overall  record, The Yellow Jackets were led by the quartet of freshman Jake Rakich (Dublin/ Olentangy Liberty), sophomore attack Vinny Carson (Cleveland/ Benedictine), freshman midfielder Joey Briski (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Pine-Richland) and freshman attack James Wilhelm (Bay Village/ St. Ignatius) each had two goals. Wilhelm also had two assists.
 
Otterbein, now 11-4, was led by Robbie Guiliano with four goals and Mike Dattolo and Pat Teynor each had three.
 
The Cardinals opened the scoring at the 13:19 mark to take a 1-0 lead but BW evened it at 1-1 at 7:02 when Rakich scored his first of two first period goals. Otterbein scored at 5:44 and 4:54 to regain the lead at 3-1 before Rakich scored his second goal with an assist from Wilhelm at 2:15. The Cards led 4-2 after one period.
 
After the Cardinals gained a 5-2 lead at 9:54 of the second period, BW closed the deficit to 5-3 when Carson scored via a Wilhelm assist at 7:29. Four more Otterbein goals made the score 9-3 at the intermission.
 
Otterbein took a 10-3 lead before Carson scored his second goal of the contest at 12:12 with an assist from Rakich. The teams again traded goals as the Cardinals scored to lead 11-4 before Briski scored a man-up goal at 8:10 to make it 11-5. After Otterbein grabbed a 12-5 lead, Wilhelm scored at 4:48 to make it 12-6.  A pair of Cardinal tallies in the final 1:24 of the stanza made it 14-6 after three sessions.
 
Otterbein took a 15-6 lead early in the final quarter and before Briski scored his second goal of the game at 11:00 via an assist from freshman attack Devon Henry (Avon Lake). Otterbein scored its final goal at 4:54 to make the score 16-7. BW scored the final three goals of the game to close the deficit to 16-10.
 
In goal for BW, sophomore Jake Harders (Rocky River/St. Edward) played all 60 minutes, allowed 16 goals and made 10 saves and finished the season at 7-7 overall.
