Two Baldwin-Wallace College Football Standouts Named ESPN Academic All-District IV

BEREA, OHIO --  Two Baldwin-Wallace College Football standout student-athletes, junior defensive back Matt Bowen (Tiffin/ Columbian) and senior offensive lineman Dan Paterline (Reynoldsburg), have been named to the ESPN Academic All-District IV teams.  Bowen was selected to the first-team and now qualifies for the national ESPN Academic All-America ballot and Paterline was tabbed to the second-team.

"This is outstanding and indicative of two young men who have excelled both academically and athletically," said ninth-year Head Coach John Snell. "Both are excellent students first, team and campus leaders second and outstanding football players.  All of our younger student-athletes look up to them as role models.  The duo is accomplishing exactly what we want all of our young men to accomplish. We are extremely proud of each of them."

Bowen, an accounting and finance double major who carries a 3.67 grade point average, is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society.   In three seasons, he has appeared in 17 games and has recorded 66 tackles, including nine for loss,  one quarterback sack, 16 pass breaks and two interceptions that both have been run back for  touchdowns.  Both of his interceptions have come this season and in successive games, and his 88-yard interception return for a score was the second longest in The George Finnie Stadium history.  Bowen was named the OAC Defensive Player of the Week for the week of October 3-10.

Paterline, a business administration and human resource management double major who carries a 3.482 grade point average, is a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.  In four seasons, including three as a starter, he has appeared in 27 games and will earn his third varsity letter.

The Yellow Jackets have a showdown with Ohio Athletic Conference rival and No.2-ranked the University of Mount Union tomorrow, November 6 at Finnie Stadium on Seniors' and Parents' Day at 1:30 p.m.   B-W will conclude its regular season on Saturday, November 13 when it travels to University Heights to play cross-town rival John Carroll University in the Annual Battle for the Cuyahoga Gold Bowl Trophy on Wasmer Field in Don Shula Stadium at 1:30 p.m.
