WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team notched its second consecutive shutout with a 7-0 victory over Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College in rescheduled non-conference action inside Ross Memorial Park.

The two teams were originally scheduled to play on Tuesday but the game was postponed due to weather conditions.

BW (24-9 overall) took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when sophomore left fielder Dudley Taw (Sheffield Lake/Brookside) hit a ground-rule double to center field and then came around to score off a single from the reigning Ohio Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week in senior All-OAC right fielder Alex Marcum (Granville). Little did the Yellow Jackets know that one run would be all they needed to secure a victory tonight behind senior right-hander Brandon Wysong (Bradford); however, BW just kept adding to the lead with two runs in the second, three runs in the sixth and one run in the seventh.

The offense spread the wealth as five different Yellow Jackets each recorded two hits: Taw, Marcum, freshman shortstop Alex Ludwick (Brunswick/Padua Franciscan), senior All-OAC catcher Trent Kaltenbach (Plain City, Jonathan Alder) and sophomore third baseman Jacob Bonner (Akron/Archbishop Hoban). Bonner had a team- and game-high two runs batted in while Kaltenbach came around two score two runs.

On the mound, Wysong moves to 2-1 on the season with a career-best seven inning performance, only allowing five hits and two walks while recording a career-best four strikeouts. Sophomore lefty Michael Hubert (Cincinnati/Oak Hills) and junior lefty Jack Raines (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) each threw a scoreless inning of relief.

BW will return to action on Saturday, April 28, when the Yellow Jackets head down to Westerville for a doubleheader with the OAC-leading Otterbein Cardinals at Fishbaugh Field. First pitch is at 1 p.m. while the second game will follow at approximately 4 p.m.
