Marcum Earns Third Career OAC Hitter of the Week Honor

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference right fielder Alex Marcum (Granville) has been selected as the OAC Hitter of the Week for the third time in his career.

Marcum led the Yellow Jackets to two key OAC sweeps over Heidelberg University and Capital University, hitting .500 with two doubles, one home run, nine runs batted in (RBIs) and seven runs scored. In the 5-4 walk-off win over Capital, he knocked in the game-tying run in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the game at 4-4.

This season, Marcum is batting .343 with 44 hits, tied for second best on the team. His team-leading 38 RBIs is tied for tops in the OAC and his seven home runs is tied for second in the conference behind his fellow teammate in sophomore left fielder Dudley Taw (Sheffield Lake/Brookside).

Marcum is a career .320 hitter in 139 appearances with an on-base percentage of .390 and a slugging percentage of .489. In the field, the senior has recorded 358 putouts and 32 assists for a career fielding percentage of .963.

BW will be back in action on Tuesday, April 24, when the Yellow Jackets hit the road for a single non-conference game with Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College at 6 p.m. at Ross Memorial Park.
