BW Adds Grace and Postwaite to Track and Field Staff

BEREA, Ohio -- Baldwin Wallace University Coordinator of Cross Country/Track and Field and Head Track and Field Coach Matthew Cole has announced the hiring of Bobby Grace and Joe Postwaite as assistant coaches. Grace will work with the throwers and Postwaite will work with the jumpers.

“The addition of Bobby and Joe to our staff is tremendous,” stated Cole. “Both bring outstanding athletic experience to our team but more importantly they are both high character individuals that are committed to helping our program win.”

Grace comes to BW after serving the past two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at Youngstown State University with the Penguin throwers.  He also assisted with the team’s community service projects and facilitated the weight room.  In addition, he has coached at local college camps and high schools.

Grace is currently a 2015 United States Track and Filed Outdoor Championships finalist as he is ranked eighth in the US and 24th in the world.  He was the silver medalist at the 2015 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the shot put.

Grace earned a bachelor’s degree in business and management information systems from Youngstown State in 2014.   As a collegiate athlete, he was a seven-time Horizon League Champion.  Grace was named the Horizon League Athlete of the Year in 2014 and was the league’s Outstanding Field Performer in 2012 and 2014. He was a three-time YSU Track and Field Most Valuable Athlete and was a three-year team captain.

Postwaite
, who currently serves as a hall director at BW, joins Cole’s staff after a successful collegiate career at NCAA Division II Lake Erie College. He also assisted in the athletic and wellness center and was a resident assistant.
Postwaite was the 2015 NCAA Division II National Champion in the triple jump with a leap of 50 feet and 11 inches.   He also was the  Mid-West Regional Athlete of the Year and was the 2014 recipient of the James D. Ulrich Award for Male Track and Field Athlete of the Year, presented by the Niagara Track and Field Hall of Fame.  Postwaite was a six-time Division II All-American and a five-time Great Lake Athlete Conference champion.
 

Postwaite earned a bachelor’s degree in education studies and a minor in biology at Lake Erie.  He was the President of the Black Student Union and the NAACP’s Martin Luther King Day Keynote speaker.
