Burdorff and Beidleman Claim Three OAC Titles as Men's Track and Field Team Took Fourth at OAC Championships

WILMINGTON, Ohio -- Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Tyler Burdorff (Painesville/Riverside) and senior All-American and Academic All-American sprinter Ben Beidelman (Washington, D.C./St. Anselm's Abbey) combined for three OAC titles as the Baldwin Wallace University men's track and field team placed fourth at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Wilmington College inside Williams Stadium.

Burdorff won the shot put and the hammer throw to earn his third OAC title and fifth outdoor All-OAC accolade. He had a season-best mark of 52'0.75" in the shot put and a mark of 189'1" in the hammer throw.  For his effort, Burdorff was named the Sparky Adams Most Outstanding Field Athlete.  

Ben Beidelman (Washington, D.C./St. Anselm's Abbey) won the 200-meter dash and waswas fifth in the 100-meter dash as he had a time of 22.07 in the 200-meter and a time of 11.24 in the 100-meter to earn his third outdoor All-OAC honor.

The Yellow Jackets was fourth of 10 teams with 79 points.  The University of Mount Union won its sixth straight title with 202 points.  The top three individuals and top three relay teams earn All-OAC honors.   

In addition, sophomore thrower Cody Smith (Port Clinton) was fourth in the shot put with a mark 50'11.5".

In relay action, the 4x100-meter team of sophomore Trypp Washington (Orlando, Fla./First Academy), Ben Beidelman, senior Michael Beidelman (Washington, D.C./ Col. Zadok A. McGruder) and sophomore Vee Sealey (Painesville/Harvey) took fifth in a time of 42.97.  The 4x400-meter relay team of Ben Beidelman, Michael Beidelman, Sealey and freshman Brandon Cole (Vermilion) finished sixth in a time of 3:27.22

BW is back in action on Monday, May 16 when select members of the team travel to Delaware to compete in the Ron Althoff Meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on the George Gauthier Track.

The 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be contested on Thursday, May 26 through Saturday, May 28 in Waverly, Iowa hosted by Wartburg College.
