Eight Men's Track and Field Members Compete at Homon Open Invitational

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Eight members of the Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field teams competed at the unscored Homon Open Invitational hosted by the University of Mount Union inside Mount Union Stadium.

The two-day event was postponed from Friday and Saturday until Sunday due to weather conditions.

The Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore thrower Cody Smith (Port Clinton) and sophomore distance runner Evan Milovich (Westlake) as he had a runner-up place. Smith was second in the shot put with a career-best mark of 52 feet and was 16th in the discus with a mark of 120'1".   Milovich took second in the 10,000-meter run with a career-best time of 32:43.30.

In addition, senior distance runner Greg Blevins (Mentor) was third in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 32:52.20.  Sophomore Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference distance runner Brian Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) was fourth in the 10,000-meter run with a career-best time of 33.22.89.  Sophomore thrower Jared Reimel (Lake Mary, Fla./Lyman) finished 11th in the javelin with a career-best mark of 131'9.  Sophomore thrower Jason Boykins (Canton/GlenOak) was 12th in the discus with a career-bets mark of 129'3".  Sophomore thrower Travis Giardina (Wampum, Pa./Mohawk Area) placed 17th in the hammer throw with a career-best mark of 111'9".  Sophomore distance runner Justin Swords (Brunswick) was 22nd in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:07.39.

BW is back in action on Saturday, April 16 when it travels to Delaware to compete in the All-Ohio Division III Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on the George Gauthier Track.
