Five Men’s Track and Field Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-OAC Accolades

BEREA, Ohio – Five Baldwin Wallace University men's track and field student-athletes have been named to the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team. 

Senior sprinter Ben Beidleman (Washington, D.C./St. Anselm's Abbey), senior sprinter Michael Beidleman (Washington, D.C./Col. Zadok A. McGruder), senior distance runner Alex Fuhrmann (Painesville/Riverside) and sophomore distance runners Brian Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) and Justin Swords (Brunswick) are five of the 34 BW spring sports student-athletes named as Academic All-OAC.

In order to be selected as Academic All-OAC, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, be in residence at the school for at least a year and maintain varsity status.

Beidleman, a two-time Academic All-American and outdoor Academic All-American, earns his third career Academic All-OAC accolade.  He is an accounting major that carries a 3.95 grade point average.  Ben Beidleman, who is a four-year letterwinner, is one of six spring student-athletes to garner his third spring academic accolade.  He is a Dean's List Student and Jacket Scholar.   Beidleman is a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma and Dayton C. Miller honoraries.  He is the school-record holder in the indoor 200-meter dash with a time of 22.64 seconds. Ben Beidleman graduated Suma Cum Laude.

Michael Beidleman, a two-year letterwinner, earns his second career Academic All-OAC accolade He is an economics major that carries a 3.81 grade point average.  He is a Dean's List Student and Jacket Scholar.   Michael Beidleman is a member of the Dayton C. Miller Honor Society. He was a United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches (USTFCCCA) All-Academic selection as a junior.  Michael Beidleman graduated Magna Cum Laude.

Furhmann, a four-year letterwinner, earns his fifth career Academic All-OAC honor.  He also is a four-year letterwinner and a two-time Academic All-OAC selection in cross country.  Furhmann is an history major that carries a 3.59 grade point average. He is one of six spring student-athletes to garner her third spring academic accolade. Furhmann is a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar.  He is a member of the Chi Sigma Alpha Honor Society.

Brennan, a two-year letterwinner, earns his third career Academic All-OAC honor.  He also is a two-year letterwinner and a two-time Academic All-OAC selection in cross country.  Brennan is an accounting major that carries a 3.91 grade point average.  He is a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar.  Brennan is a member of the Dayton C. Miller Honor Society.

Swords earns second career Academic All-OAC honor.  He also is a two-year letterwinner and am Academic All-OAC selection in cross country.  Swords is a business administration major that carries a 3.58 grade point average.
