Men's Outdoor Track and Field Team Takes Fifth at All-Ohio Championships

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team finished fifth at the All-Ohio Division III Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on the George Gauthier Track.

BW was fifth of 18 teams with 56 points.  Ohio Wesleyan was the champion with 163 points.

The Yellow Jackets were led by senior All-American and Academic All-American sprinter Ben Beidleman (Washington, D.C. /St. Anselm's Abbey) as he won the 200-meter dash and was the runner-up in the 100-meter dash.  Ben had a season-best time of 21.69 in the 200-meter and a season-best time of 10.99 in the 100-meter after qualifying with the fastest time of 11.03.

In addition, senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Tyler Burdorff (Painesville/Riverside) was first in the discus with a career-best mark of 159 feet and five inches and fifth in the shot put with a mark of 48'9" in the shot put. 

Sophomore thrower Cody Smith (Port Clinton) was third in the shot put with a mark of 50'1.25" in the shot put.

Sophomore Zak Dysert (McDonald, Pa. /Fort Cherry) was fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 159'2" and seventh in the javelin with a career-best mark of 168'10".  

Senior sprinter Michael Beidleman (Washington, D.C. /Col. Zadok A. McGruder) was fifth in the 200-meter dash with a career-best time of 22.13.

Sophomore distance runner Brian Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) was sixth in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:30.23.

Junior vaulter Johnathon Spilker (Solon) was sixth in the pole vault with a season-best mark of 14'6.25".

Senior distance runner Greg Blevins (Mentor) was eighth in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:32.41.

In relay action, the 4x100-meter team of freshman Brandon Cole (Vermilion), Ben Beidleman, Michael Beidleman and junior sprinter Vee Sealey (Painesville/Harvey) placed eighth in a time of 43.03 seconds.

BW is back in action on Friday and Saturday, April 22 and 23 when it hosts the 47th annual Sparky Adams Invitational inside the George Finnie Stadium.  The hammer throw will only be contested Friday at 2 p.m. at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds.  The remainder of the meet will be on Saturday with the fist events scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

The 2016 Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships are on Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30 hosted by Wilmington College inside Williams Stadium.
