Men's Indoor Track and Field Finishes Sixth At OAC Championships

MARIETTA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's indoor track and field team finished in sixth place at the Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Marietta College inside the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center. 

The 18th nationally ranked Yellow Jackets placed sixth of 10 teams with 68 points.   The University of Mount Union was the champion for the fourth straight year with 158.5 point.

The Yellow Jacket men were led by All-OAC thrower Tyler Burdorff (Painesville/Riverside) as he finished second in the shot put with a mark of 51 feet and 2.25 inches.  Burdorff also won the weight throw on Friday with a season-best toss.  He now has earned five All-OAC indoor accolades.

In addition, senior Academic All-American sprinter Ben Beidleman (Washington D.C. /St. Anselm's Abbey) placed second in the 55-meter dash and the 200-meter dash.  Ben Beidleman ran a time of 6.51 seconds in the 55-meter and a time of 22.25.  He now has his five career All-OAC indoor honor.  Sophomore thrower Cody Smith (Port Clinton) claimed his first All-OAC indoor accolade as he took third in the shot put with a mark of 50'4.75". Senior sprinter Michael Beidleman (Washington, D.C. /Col. Zadok A. McGruder) was fifth in the 55-meter dash and sixth in the 200-meter dash.  Michael Beidleman had a time of 6.60 in the 55-meter and a career-best time of 22.62 in the 200-meter. Sophomore Academic All-OAC distance runner Brian Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) finished eighth in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:31.27

In relay action, the 4x200-meter relay team of Ben Beidleman, Michael Beidleman, freshman Brandon Cole (Vermilion) and sophomore Vee Sealey (Painesville/Harvey) took fifth in a time of 1:33.09.  The 4x400-meter relay team of Sealey, senior Tate Stoll (Norwalk/Western Reserve), Ben Beidleman and Michael Beidleman finished fifth in a time of 3:33.20.

BW is back in action on Saturday, March 5 when select individuals will travel to Ada to compete in the Polar Bear Last Chance Qualifier hosted by Ohio Northern University in the ONU Sports Center at 10 a.m.

The NCAA Division Indoor Track and Field National Championships will be contested on March 11 and 12 in Grinnell, Iowa at the Bear Recreation and Athletic Center on the campus of Grinnell College.
