Burdorff Claims First OAC Title as Men's Track and Field Stands Fourth After Day One of OAC Championships

WILMINGTON, Ohio –  Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Tyler Burdorff (Painesville/Riverside) claimed his first OAC title  and third outdoor All-OAC accolade as the Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field teams stand fourth after the first day of competition at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Wilmington College inside Williams Stadium.

Burdorff won the discus with a career-best mark of 154 feet and one inch and took eighth in the javelin with a career-best mark of 157'6". 

The Yellow Jackets stand fourth of 10 teams with 28 points.  Ohio Northern University leads after the first day with 66 points.  The top three indiviudals and top three relay teams earn All-OAC honors.   

In addition, junior vaulter Johnathon Spilker (Solon) earned his first career All-OAC accolade as he took third in the pole vault with a mark of 14'9". Sophomore thrower Zak Dysert (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) placed fifth in the javelin with a mark of 166'11". Sophomore thrower Jayson Boykins (Canton/GlenOak) was sixth in the discus with a career-best mark of 141'2".   Sophomore thrower Cody Smith (Port Clinton) finished eighth in the discus with a career-best mark of 138'2". 

In relay action, the 4x800-meter relay team of sophomore Justin Swords (Brunswick), freshman Spencer Mahon (North Royalton), freshman Phil Spronz (Strongsville) and sophomore Vee Sealey (Painesville/Harvey) took sixth in a time of 8:26.65.

BW is back in action on Saturday, April 25 for the second and final day of competition at the OAC Championships.  Field events start at 10 a.m. with running events slated to begin at 2:30 p.m.
