WILMINGTON, Ohio – Sophomore outside hitter Allyson Smith (Macedonia/Walsh Jesuit) recorded a career-high 17 kills to lead the Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team to a three-set Ohio Athletic Conference victory over Wilmington College inside the Fred Raizk Arena  

BW (24-1, 2-1 OAC) beat Wilmington (4-15, 0-3 OAC) by scores of 25-9, 25-14 and 27-25.  The Quakers have lost five straight matches and nine straight matches to the Yellow Jackets.

In addition to Smith for the BW offense, senior All-OAC right side hitter Ellen Hawkins (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) tallied six kills. Junior two-time first-team All-OAC outside hitter Alicia Lortcher (Norwalk) and freshman utility player Alexis Garrett (Mentor) each added five kills

Freshmen setter Kathleen Egan (Cleveland/Beaumont), freshman setter Abby Cosart (Lima/Bath) and freshman utility player Sam Pruett (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley) all helped to run the offense with nine assists.  Freshman setter Rachel Holliday (Elyria) contributed a career-best seven assists. 

Defensively, Lortcher led the back line with a match-high 11 digs.  Freshman defensive specialist Jasmine Hromada (Lorain/Elyria Catholic) added 10 kills while freshman defensive specialist Olivia Brooker (Chagrin Falls/Orange) contributed a career-high nine digs.  Pruett chipped in with a career-high eight digs. 

BW is back in action on Tuesday, October 10 when it hosts an OAC match against crosstown rival John Carroll University in the Ursprung Gymnasium at 7 p.m. Fans can follow all of the action via live stats at http://www.bwyellowjackets.com/x/3qqos.
