Volleyball Selected Fourth in OAC Preseason Poll

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team has been picked to finish fourth in the 2017 Ohio Athletic Conference Coaches Preseason Poll.

BW, who was picked to finish third in the conference a season ago, finished fourth out of 10 teams with 59 points with one first place vote in this year's poll. Defending conference champion and NCAA qualifier Ohio Northern University finished first in the polling with 80 points and eight first place votes while the University of Mount Union was picked second with 67 points and one first place vote. Finishing in third place was Heidelberg University with 65 points and then the Yellow Jackets in fourth. Rounding out the top five was Otterbein University with 52 points. 

Head Coach Scott Carter, who enters his third year in Berea and his sixth overall season as a head coach, returns five letterwinners, including four starters from last year's squad that posted an overall record of 24-6 and 5-4 in conference play. He welcomes back one senior, three juniors, one sophomore, two all-OAC players and 18 newcomers 

The Yellow Jackets open the 2017 season when they travel to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to compete in the Greyhound Premier Invitational hosted by Moravian College (Pa.) September 1-2. 

The 19th Annual Marcia French Memorial Invitational is scheduled for September 8 and 9 on the campuses of Baldwin Wallace and Case Western Reserve University. Conference play will open on Thursday, September 28, on the road against Marietta College at 7 p.m.
