Volleyball Defeats Otterbein in OAC Action

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball won a four-set Ohio Athletic Conference match against Otterbein University in the Rike Center.

BW (22-4, 4-3 OAC), who played its final road contest of the regular season, defeated Otterbein (15-10, 3-3 OAC) by scores of 24-26, 25-22, 25-18 and 25-21.  The Yellow Jackets also snapped an eight-match losing streak to the Cardinals.

Offensively, sophomore All-OAC outside hitter Alicia Lortcher (Norwalk) tallied up a team-high 17 kills. Along with Lorthcer, junior outside hitter Ellen Hawkins (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) and senior All-OAC middle hitter Nikolette Scruggs (Barberton) each contributed 12 kills. Freshman setter Shannon Ott (Milan/Edison) ran the offense with 54 assists.

Defensively, Lortcher also led BW defensively with 21 digs. Sophomore libero Ashley Nuding (Perrysburg/Springfield) also tallied up 18. 

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, October 25 when they host OAC leader and number 24-nationally ranked Ohio Northern University in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center at 7 p.m.

The 2016 OAC Tournament begins on Tuesday, November 3 as the top four teams will host a quarterfinal match at 7 p.m.   The semifinal matches will be held at the highest remaining seeds on Thursday, November 3 at 7 p.m.   The OAC Championship match will be contested at the highest remaining seed after the semifinals on Saturday, November 5 at 2 p.m.
