Volleyball Knocked Out of OAC Tournament in Semifinals by #23 Ohio Northern

ADA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team was knocked out of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament in the semifinals by 23rd-nationally ranked, Ohio Athletic Conference regular season champion and top-seeded Ohio Northern University in three sets inside the ONU Sports Center.

BW (24-6), who last advanced to the OAC Tournament championship match in 2005, closes out its season.  Ohio Northern (26-3) advances to the OAC Tournament championship for the second straight season and will host second-seed Heidelberg University on Saturday, November 3 at 2 p.m.  

The Yellow Jackets fell to the Polar Bears by scores of 23-25, 16-25 and 17-25.

Sophomore All-OAC outside hitter Alicia Lortcher (Norwalk) led the offensive attack with 11 kills.  Senior All-OAC middle hitter Nikolette Scruggs (Barberton) tallied eight kills. Junior outside hitter Ellen Hawkins (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) and freshman outside hitter Allyson Smith (Macedonia/Walsh Jesuit) contributed seven kills apiece.

Freshman setter Shannon Ott (Milan/Edison) ran the offense with a 36 assists. 

Lortcher anchored the defense with a match-high and career-best 28 digs.  Sophomore libero Ashley Nuding (Perrysburg/Springfield) recorded 18 digs.
