BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team cruised to a three-set Ohio Athletic Conference victory against Wilmington College in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.
BW (20-2, 2-1 OAC) defeated Wilmington (1-17, 0-3 OAC) by scores of 25-9, 25-8 and 25-17.
Offensively, sophomore All-OAC outside hitter Alicia Lortcher (Norwalk) led the offensive attack with a match-high 14 kills and tallied four service aces. Junior outside hitter Ellen Hawkins (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) had 11 kills and one service ace.
Freshman setters Shannon Ott (Milan/Edison) and Sarah Shaheen (Sewickley, Pa. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) ran the offense. Ott had a match-best 23 assists while Shaheen tallied a career-best 16 assists and added one service ace.
On the defensive side, sophomore libero Ashley Nuding (Perrysburg/Springfield) recorded a match-high 17 digs while Lortcher contributed 10.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, October 11 when they travel to University heights for an OAC match against cross-town rival John Carroll University in the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center at 7 p.m.
