Volleyball Ends Regular Season with Three-Set Victory Over Capital

BEREA Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team ended the regular season portion of its schedule with a three-set Ohio Athletic Conference victory against Capital University in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center on Seniors' and Parents' Day.

BW (23-5, 5-4 OAC) defeated Capital (5-22, 1-8 OAC) by scores of 25-5, 25-17 and 25-21. 
 
Sophomore All-OAC outside hitter Alicia Lortcher (Norwalk) led the offensive attack with a match-high 13 kills. Senior All-OAC middle hitter Nikolette Scruggs (Barberton) added 12 kills and one service ace.
 

Freshman setter Shannon Ott (Milan/Edison) ran the offense with a match-best 33 assists.

Sophomore libero Ashley Nuding (Perrysburg/Springfield) anchored the defense with a nine digs.  Lortcher racked up eight digs and senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC defensive specialist Arlayna Newcomer (Norwalk/St. Paul) finished with seven digs.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, November 1 when they enter the OAC Tournament as the fifth-seed.  BW will travel to University Heights to take on the fourth-seed and cross-town rival John Carroll University in the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center at 7 p.m. 

The winner of the match will advance to play the winner of top-seed and OAC regular season champion Ohio Northern University and eighth-seed Marietta College on Thursday, November 3 on the campus of the highest remaining seed at 7 p.m.  The OAC Championship match will be contested at the highest remaining seed after the semifinals on Saturday, November 5 at 2 p.m.
