Volleyball Team Swept by #13 Heidelberg in Berea

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team lost to Ohio Athletic Conference foe and 13th-ranked Heidelberg University, 3-0, tonight (Tuesday, October 12) at Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea. Heidelberg won by scores of 25-23, 25-17 and 25-21.

The Yellow Jackets are now 17-10 overall and 2-2 in the OAC, while Heidelberg improves to 23-3 and 5-0 in the OAC.

Offensively, B-W was led by freshman middle hitter Colleen Bonacci (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) who contributed nine kills. Sophomore middle hitter Rachel Switalski (North Royalton/Holy Name) added six kills and five digs. Freshman defensive specialist Taylor Burns (Tiffin/Fostoria St. Wendelin) added four kills and recorded 16 digs. Freshman outside hitter Shannon Deleur (Olmsted Falls) also had 16 digs.

Sophomore libero and co-captain Natalie Emmons (Ashland/Senior) had game-high 25 digs while sophomore setter Jessica Stitts (Eastlake/North) led the way 14 set assists.

The Student Princes were led by Vanessa Haase with 11 kills. Brittany Donelan added 24 digs and Rachel Ferguson had 22 set assists.

B-W returns to action this Saturday, October 16 when they host #22 Ohio Northern University in an OAC match at 1:00 p.m. in Ursprung Gym. The match is also designated as a "Dig Pink" Match as fans are asked to wear pink to support cancer awareness.
