BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team lost to 22nd-ranked and Ohio Athletic Conference rival Ohio Northern University, 3-0, today (Saturday, October 16, 2010) in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center on 'Dig It for the Cure' Day in Berea. The scores of the match were 25-16, 25-16, 25-10.

Despite its loss, B-W is now 17-11 overall and 2-3 in the OAC.  With its win, ONU is now 14-10 overall and 4-1 in the OAC.

Up front, the Yellow Jackets were led by senior defensive specialist Rebecca Pittenger (Alliance/Senior) who had six kills and led the team in digs with 23.  Sophomore middle hitter Rachel Switalski (North Royalton/Holy Name) contributed with five kills and added five digs.  Freshman middle hitter Colleen Bonacci (Stow/Stow Munroe  Falls) had four kills and three  digs.  Freshman outside hitter Shannon Deleur (Olmsted Falls) had four service aces along with 12 digs and two blocks.

Setting the offense was senior setter Casey Passen (Ashville/ Teays Valley) who led the team in set assists with eight.   On defense, sophomore libero Natalie Emmons (Ashland/ Senior) was second on the team in digs with 13.

The Polar Bears were led by Kristen Davidson with 12 kills.  Kasey Roeser added 22 digs and Nicole Pottkotter had 36 set assists.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 20 when they travel to Alliance to play OAC rival the University of Mount Union in the Gulling Center at 7:00 p.m.  The next home match is on Tuesday, Oct. 26 when B-W hosts OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University in the Ursprung Gym at 7:00 p.m.
