ACADEMIC MAJOR:   History

BW ATHLETICS INFORMATION:   Alex Furhmann competed in cross country and track at Baldwin Wallace University in 2014-2015. He earned his third varsity letter and Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors in each sport.

ACADEMIC HONORS:  Alex carries a 3.58 grade point average, is a Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar. He also is a member of the Chi Sigma Alpha Honor Society.

As a sophomore in 2013-2014, he earned Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors in track. As a junior in 2014-2015, Alex earned Academic All-OAC honors in cross country and track.

GENERAL CROSS COUNTRY INFORMATION:  As a freshman in 2012-2013, Alex ran his first season of cross country and earned his first varsity letter. He ran his best 8K race at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble where he finished 234th with a time of 28:24.30. Alex also finished 120th OAC Championship Meet in 29:50.2.

As a sophomore in 2013-2014, Alex ran his second season of cross country and earned his second letter. He finished 118th at the All-Ohio Meet in 31:03.99, placed 117th at the OAC Championship Meet with a season best time of 29:27.7 and was 222nd at the NCAA Division III Regional Meet in 30:22. 

As a junior in 2014-2015, Alex ran his third season of cross country and earned his third varsity letter. He finished 199th at the All-Ohio Meet in 29:57.17, placed 91st at the OAC Championship Meet in 30:19.12 and was 192nd at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Meet in 27:58.8. He also earned Academic All-OAC honors.

As a senior in 2015-2016, Alex is running his fourth season of cross country and hopes to earn his fourth letter.

GENERAL INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD INFORMATION:  As a freshman in 2012-2013, Alex ran his first season of indoor track. He ran a season-best in the 800-meter run (2:18.28) at the Greater Cleveland College Championship Meet.

As a sophomore in 2013-2014, Alex ran his second season of indoor track. Alex ran a season-best 10:44.2 in the 3000-meter run at the Ohio Wesleyan University Bob Shannon Invitational. 

As a junior in 2014-2015, Alex ran his third season of indoor track. He had a career-best in the 3000-meter run (10:26.19) at the OAC North Split Squad Meet.

As a senior in 2015-2016, Alex is running his fourth season of indoor track.

GENERAL OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD INFORMATION:  As a freshman in 2012-2013, Alex ran his first season of outdoor track and earned his first letter. He set a career-best in the 800-meter run (2:11.35) and a season-best of 17:36.0 in the 5000-meter run.

As a sophomore in 2013-2014, Alex competed in his second season of track and earned his second letter. He had a career-best of 11.47 seconds in the 100 meter dash and a season-best of 17:29.02 in the 5000 meters. Alex earned Academic All-OAC honors.

As a junior in 2014-2015, Alex ran his third season of outdoor track and earned his third letter. He had career-bests in the 5000-meter run (17:27.97) and 10,000-meter run (37:12.16). He earned Academic All-OAC honors in track and the second straight year.

As a senior in 2015-2016, Alex is competing in his fourth season of track and hopes to earn his fourth letter.

HOMETOWN & HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION:  Alex grew up in Painesville, Ohio and graduated from Painesville Riverside High School.

Alex competed in three years of cross country and earned three varsity letters. Alex also ran track for four years and earned four varsity letters.
