Men’s Swimming and Diving Drop an OAC Dual to Mount Union

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving teams closed out a four-meet home stand as it dropped an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet against the University of Mount Union in the BW Natatorium.

BW (3-4, 1-2 OAC) fell to Mount Union by a final score of 165-128. 

The Yellow Jackets were led by freshman freestyler Greg Shaw (Colorado Springs, Colo./Manitou Springs) as he won a pair of events and was the runner-up in another.  Shaw won 50-yard butterfly in a career-best time of 24.43 seconds and the 100-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 49.31. He was the runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly in a career-best time of 52.29.

Picking up a pair of victories were senior diver Jon Levin (Olmsted Falls) and junior All-American stroker Tyler Thompson (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights).  Levin won both 1-meter competitions as he scored a season-best 146.55 points in the five-dive event and 181.10 points in the six-dive event. Thompson won the 50-yard breaststroke in a season-best time of 26.71 seconds and the 100-yard breaststroke in a season-best time of 58.93. 

In addition, senior All-OAC performer Jacob Burk (Bowling Green) won the 500-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 5:02.58 and was the runner-up in the 1000-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 10:29.04. 

BW is back in action on Friday through Sunday, December 2-4 when it travels to Fredonia, New York to compete in the annual Blue Devil Invitational hosted by Fredonia State University in the Steele Hall Natatorium.  Friday's action begins at 4 p.m.   Saturday and Sunday's prelims will begin at 10 am with finals being contested at 5 p.m. on Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.  Fans can follow all of the action via live results at http://www.sidearmstats.com/fredonia/swim/
