Men's Swimming and Diving Team Defeats NCAA Division II Malone

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team won a non-conference dual meet against NCAA Division II Malone University in the BW Natatorium.

BW (4-5) defeated Malone by a final score of 128-105.

The team was led by senior All-OAC performer Jacob Burk (Bowling Green), senior diver Jon Levin (Olmsted Falls) and junior All-American Tyler Thompson (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) as the trio won a pair of events. Burk won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:03.45 and the 1,000-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 10:27.28.  Levin won both 1-meter diving events as he scored a career-best 154.85 points in the five-dive event and 208.25 in the six-dive event. Thompson won the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:19.85 and the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:06.18.


Also, picking up a victory was sophomore freestyler Kevin Hartenstein (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory)as he won the 200-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 1:54.42.

In addition, freshman freestyler Greg Shaw (Colorado Springs, Colo./Manitou Springs) was the runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle and the 200-yard butterfly with times of 22.96 seconds and 2:07.25. Sophomore freestyler Tyler Allison (Napoleon) was second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 53.24. Sophomore freestyler John Beyer(Columbus/Centennial) finished second in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:19.18. Sophomore diver Cameron O'Brien (Toledo/Northview) was second in both diving events as he scored a career-best 144.70 points in the five-dive event and 206.80 points in the six-dive event.

In relay action, the 400-yard medley team of Beyer, ThompsonShaw and Allison took first in a season-best time of 3:49.06.  The 400-yard freestyle quad of Hartenstein, freshman freestyler Austin Lockhart (Olmsted Falls), sophomore freestyler Matthew Roetter (Troy) and Burk were second in a time of 3:31.71.
