BW Men’s Golf Team Places Seventh at Nye Intercollegiate

WOOSTER, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team finished  seventh at Nye Intercollegiate hosted by The College of Wooster at the Wooster Country Club.

BW placed seventh of nine teams with rounds of  321 and 325 for a two-day total of 646 on the par-72 and 6,545-yard Wooster Country Club layout.  Wittenberg University was the team champion with a two-round total of 595.

Sophomore Matt Kershner (Independence) led the Yellow Jackets with a two-day total of 159 after firing rounds of 82 and 77.  Kershner finished tied for 18th of 59 golfers. Defending Ohio Athletic Conference Medalist Adam Sanders (Fairview Park/Fairview) was tied for 25th with rounds of 78 and 83 for a total of 161.  Senior Cody Lyon (Wadsworth/Medina Highland) and sophomore All-OAC player Scott Schroeder (Aurora) were two strokes behind Sanders.    Lyon had rounds of 82 and 81 while Schroeder carded rounds of 79 and 84.   Rounding out the starting five was senior Andy Ingram (Vermillion) with a two-round total of 180 with rounds of 94 and 86.   

Four other BW players played as individuals.  Sophomore Weston Lucas (Columbia Station / Christian Community School) had rounds of 83 and 81 for a 164.  Freshman Dennis Millgard (North Ridgeville) shot a two-day total of 169 with rounds of 85 and 84.  Sophomore Austin Griffith (Barberton) carded rounds of 89 and 85 for a 174 and junior Aaron Harden (Mentor) had a career-best two round total of 193 after rounds of 99 and 94

The Yellow Jackets are back in action Friday through Sunday, April 24-26 when BW travels to West Lafayette, Ohio to compete at the 2015 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Tournament at the River Greens Golf Club. The winner of the OAC tourney receives an NCAA Division III National Tournament automatic berth.
