AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Five Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball student athletes have been named to the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.
In order to be selected to the Academic All-OAC team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.
Senior All-OAC forward Jake Fetherolf (Norwalk), junior All-OAC guard Jay Battle (Gahanna/Lincoln), sophomore guard Michael Quiring (Brunswick), sophomore guard Troy Massa (Parma/Normandy) and sophomore forward Jack Lostoski (Uniontown/Lake) are five of the 24 winter student-athletes to be named to the team.
Fetherolf, who earns his first career Academic All-OAC honor, is an accounting major who carries a 3.77 GPA. He is a two-time All-OAC selection and a Dean's List student. He became the 41st player in school history to score 1,000 career points and he is just the sixth player in school history to score 1,000 career points and grab 900 career rebounds. For his career, Fetherolf appeared in 112 games, making 108 starts, and averaged 10.8 points, 8.8 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game while shooting 52.4 percent from the floor.
Battle, who garners his second straight Academic All-OAC accolade, is a history major who carries a 3.51 GPA. He is a two-time All-OAC selection, a Dean's List student and a member of the Alpha Lambda Honor Society. He became the 42nd player in school history to amass 1,000 career points when he scored his 14th point against John Carroll University on February 22. In his three seasons, Battle has appeared in 82 games, making 72 starts, and averages 12.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while shooting at a 44.9 percent clip from the floor.
Quiring, who was selected to his first Academic All-OAC team, is a finance major who carries a 3.72 GPA. A Dean's List student, he was named OAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week on December 4 after he knocked down the game winning three-pointer to upset Marietta College on Dec. 2. In just two seasons, Quiring has appeared in 55 games with 32 starts and averages 8.6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 40.0 percent from the floor.
Massa, who earns his first Academic All-OAC honor, is a sport management major who carries a 3.50 GPA. A Dean's List student, Massa has appeared in 12 games in his career, has scored eight points, grabbed two rebounds, dished out five assists, made two steals and blocked one shot.
Lostoski, who garners his first Academic All-OAC accolade, is a business administration major who carries a 3.61 GPA. He is a Dean's List student. For his career, Lostoski has appeared in nine games, scored eight points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out one assist.
