Quiring Earns First Career OAC Men’s Basketball Player of Week Honor

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball sophomore guard Michael Quiring (Brunswick) has been selected as the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the first time in his career. 

Quiring earns his first accolade after helping BW to two road victories last week as the team improved to 4-1 overall 1-0 in the OAC.   He averaged 15.5 points per game, 1.0 rebounds per contest and 1.5 assists per game in the two victories.

Quiring scored a career-high 25 points and hit the game-winning three-point basket as time expired in a 73-72 upset victory against sixth-nationally ranked Marietta College on Saturday afternoon.  He added six points in a 68-59 victory at Trine (Ind.) University last Monday.

This season, Quiring is third on the team with a career-best 13.0 points per game.  He leads the squad with three blocks and is third with 10 assists. 

Quiring has appeared in 33 career games with 10 starts, including starting in all five games this season.  He averages 8.9 points per game and 2.3 rebounds per contest.  Quiring has dished out 77 assists and has made 16 steals and seven blocks.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Saturday, December 9 when they travel to New Concord to face Muskingum University in the second game of a men's and women's OAC doubleheader on Performance Court at 4 p.m.
