BW Supports Goodwin and Family With Suits and Sneakers on Saturday

BEREA, OHIO --  On Saturday, January 30, when the Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team hosts Ohio Athletic Conference rival Marietta College, the University will celebrate the "Suits and Sneakers" Program that the National Association of Basketball Coaches' (NABC) adopted to support cancer awareness and to raise funds for research.

As a part of the NABC's efforts, both OAC and fellow Ohio NCAA Division III conference, the North Coast Athletic Conference, hopes to raise funds in the name of OAC member Capital University Head Coach Damon Goodwin who is battling leukemia. The funds raised during this Saturday's game will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) in Goodwin's name. Game time is 3 p.m.

In addition, OAC and NCAC coaches will be wearing orange ties on Saturday, January 30th as a show of support for Coach Goodwin, his family and the cause.

At BW, in addition, donation jars will be placed at the entrance to the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center so that fans can donate to this cause when entering the game. In addition, BW is generously donating one half of its gate proceeds from the game versus Marietta to the fund for the Goodwin Family.

"We are extremely pleased to both be able to help the Goodwin Family and contrbibute to the support and awareness of cancer and cancer research," said BW first-year Head Coach Tom Heil. "Coach Goodwin is a good friend and fellow OAC competitor and we keep both he and his family in our thoughts."

All donations are tax deductible and go to support LLS research, patient services, advocacy, education, and community services.  Please visit lls.org to for more information and to donate online.
