Women’s Cross Country Takes Third in Inter-Regional Rumble

OBERLIN, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country team placed third in the Inter-Regional Rumble, hosted by Oberlin College at the Oberlin College Cross Country Course.

BW finished third of 26 teams with 115 total points. Host Oberlin took home the team title with 77 points while Case Western Reserve University was the runner-up with 86 points.

Junior two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC performer Kelly Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) led the way for the Yellow Jackets with a sixth-place finish out of 313 runners in a season-best time of 22 minutes, 26.3 seconds. Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC performer Bella Pendola (Warsaw/River View) took 11th in a time of 22:32.4.

Sophomore All-Great Lakes Region performer Madison Kile (North Canton/Hoover) turned in a career-best 6k time of 23:08.3 to finish 24th while freshman Alyssa Laughner (Howard, Pa./Central Mountain) continues to improve on her times in her first collegiate season, running a career-best 23:15.6 to finish 28th.Sophomore All-OAC performer Hastings Marek (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) rounded out the top-five runners with a season-best time of 23:39.6 to place 53rd.

BW will look to carry over this strong performance to its next meet at the 2018 OAC Championships, hosted by the University of Mount Union on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Sable Creek Golf Course in Hartville.
